 got a new band called strange pink with a couple of friends called dom and eddie from hull. we've got a new single out called 'pencil chewer' on bandcamp and more to come over the next couple of months.  Pencil Chewer by Strange Pink also, my next solo album is being mastered now. should be out in summer. might call it 'summer hits' but maybe not... ok ok 

  hi hi hi, long time amd things. the above photo was taken because i was interviewed for a magazine and they needed a promo photograph of me. that magazine article didn't happen, but the photo exists. it was decided that sunglasses were needed because my eyes are so tired. i'm sat on a bench in the york minster gardens, and it looks like i have a centre parting but i don't... i am also back in a secret location in east yorkshire recording another solo album. it's the follow up to 'caught under a spell' and is a similar kind of thing. have recorded about four songs so far. also, i had chance to unearth some old tapes and videos of one of my first bands called the pills. i played bass in the band with my schoolfriends - danny (singing and guitars) and paul (drums). we were based in york and played a few local shows like at the spotted cow ( video performance here ), and did a few studio recordings. here is a bandcamp page of all of our recordings - both studio a...

i released my latest album ' caught under a spell ' on desert mine on 26 january 2024. it was recorded at groovetank studios and noisebox studios in east yorkshire from about february to september 2024.  i recorded and mixed it myself, but dave keegan did the mastering, hayley hutchinson did some backing vocals on 'slacker', 'someone's daughter' and 'small world'. to record it, i used the following stuff: macbook laptop  ua audio apollo twin x  microphones: akg 414, shure sm57  guitars: gibson j45, guild polara, fender precision bass  vox ac15 amp pearl drumkit Caught Under a Spell by Sam Forrest

  here is a photo i took of an abandoned petrol station near where i live. nice isn't it? anyway, i've got a show coming up in manchester on november 4 2023 at briton's protection. it's a 'special' show because i'll be playing two sets as a kind of retrospective of the music i've been churning out over the past 20 years. what makes it truly special is the fact that the show is being promoted by akoustik anarkhy who helped me and my band, nine black alps, a lot when we were starting out. they are big music fans and excellent people too. so come down and share in the experience... ticket link here ... 

  been a while... just to let you/me know that i am recording another solo album. doing it all by myself including drums in various places in east yorkshire including the above space - perfect for tripping over microphone cables. don't really know what kind album it is yet, but have done six songs so far that are quiet, very quiet, louder, and some are quite long too. i should mention that my band sewage farm has a new EP out called mould and my other band, the sorry kisses, also had a mini album out recently called hang from a star . apart from that i'm figuring out how the new audio interface in the picture above works and still trying to tune my guitar/voicebox...
